Student Journal
During my practicum, I found it challenging to journal in a way that allowed me to truly reflect on my experiences, apply theory, and consider the reasonings behind behaviors, not just recount what happened. I'm the type of person that needs prompting, guidance, and structure to squeeze as much learning and reflection from an educational experience. In preparation for my internship, I created a guided student journal to help me reflect, set goals, track my progress, and assess myself during the internship.
The journal includes:
-
Pre, mid, and post-internship worksheets
-
Daily and weekly reflections
-
Various trackers to record my progress
-
Reference sheets (age group break downs and theories) to use while reflecting on my experiences
I tried to make this journal applicable to practicums as well. I shared this journal in the Child Life Connection: Student Forum for other students to utilize, as well.
