ADP Capstone

For my capstone project at the University of Pittsburgh, we must partner with an organization that serves children and/or families, identify a need within the organization, and design a program to solve that need. I partnered with the child life team at West Penn Burn Center in Pittsburgh, PA to develop resources for pediatric burn patients and their caregivers. For this project, I wrote and illustrated an activity book that is equal parts educational, therapeutic, and normalizing for pediatric burn patients to work through during their treatment. I also developed a corresponding caregiver's guide that discusses coping and communication tools to use while their child is undergoing treatment. This project is still a work in progress, so the below attachments are not the final version. Edits regarding sibling support, peer interaction, PT/OT services, skin grafting, and school re-entry are currently being implemented. I have also included my final paper, research poster, poster presentation, and project executive summary, for you to gain a better understanding of the behind-the-scenes work that has gone into this project.
